Part-Time Textile Product Cutter
LOCATION: Guelph, ON, Canada.
Role Responsibilities:
The Textile Product Cutter will be responsible for cutting and preparing products for sewing/assembly. This will include all pillows for Rug & Weave, and the wholesale offering as needed. Additionally the cutter may also be required to cut seasonal/lifestyle products for specific launches throughout the year. The Cutter will be expected to maintain an exceptional level of accuracy in measuring and cutting, which ensures smooth production in assembly and overall maintenance of our high level of quality.
Role Qualifications:
The individual will have a minimum of 1 year experience in cutting textile products, whether it be clothing or home decor products. The individual will have a broad knowledge of various textiles, their behaviour and be able to manage textiles with ease. The individual will have education or training in patternmaking and feel comfortable with any new patterns to be developed over the course of the year. The individual will also ideally bring experience and suggest ideas for better productivity, efficiency and creativity to improve our overall production processes. An interview and practical cutting experience will be performed to evaluate the individual's skill level.
Hours:
We hope to introduce a part-time position with possibility of extended hours during peak periods of production. An introductory schedule of 15-20hrs per week is our goal.
Schedules can be created based on the individual's availability with some flexibility available.
Generally shifts would be 6hrs with one unpaid half hour break.
Expectations:
The cutter selected for this position will be expected to maintain a level of output as outlined by the Textile Production Manager, which will vary from week to week, but in general the individual should be prepared for the following:
- Be comfortable working on their feet for the duration of their shift - standing, walking, lifting bolts of fabric, pressing fabric, leaning/reaching etc.
- Comfortable and familiar with electrically powered cutting tools and manual tools like rotary cutters and scissors
- Able to maintain accuracy throughout the cutting process of linings/backings and face fabrics
- Prepare and cut a minimum of 140 pillows/products per week
